First was found in Dumfries on 19th July 1974 by A. M. Emmet and was of the form octomaculana.
Other sites: Castlehill in Kirkmahoe parish, Holywood.

First for Dumfries & Galloway was found in Colvend parish during July 1871 by Francis Buchanan White.
Other sites: Auchenshore on Auchencairn Bay, Balcary Heughs, Balmaclellan, Bargrug, Blackpark Marsh on Threave Estate NTS, Mersehead RSPB, Milton, Mullock Bay.
VC74
First was found at Port of Counan on 21st July 2006 during a 'Grey Daggers' Moth Group field meeting .
Other sites: Airyolland Lodge on Luce Bay, Barsalloch Point, Cardryne near Drummore.

Cnephasia species are very difficult to separate and require genitalia dissection.
