First was found at Castlehill in Kirkmahoe parish by Sir Arthur Duncan on 7th August 1977, specimen now at National Museums of Scotland.
Other sites: Bowhouse Park at Caerlaverock, Castle Wood at Caerlaverock, Corserig Hill at Kelloholm, Holmhead on Lochar Moss.

First was found at Portling on 26th August 1976 by Sir Arthur Duncan, specimen now at National Museums of Scotland.
Other sites: Auchenshore on Auchencairn Bay, Carsfad near Dalry, Carsluith, Kippford, Kirkmabreck, Meikle Ross, Milton, Old Torr, Ravenshall Point, Threave Gardens NTS.

First for Dumfries & Galloway was found at Killantringan Lighthouse on 12th August 1914 by D. A. Mowat the keeper.
Other sites: Cairnhead, Changue Port, Chapel Finian, Chippermore Port & Point, Drumantrae Bay, Garheugh, Glenstockadale near Leswalt, Port of Counan, Stein Head.
 
Life cycle
 
 
Larval foodplants
Broom, gorse, petty whin and dyer's greenweed.
 
Identification
The key is the subfalcate wing at the point of the apex.
