History
The first for Scotland and Dumfries & Galloway was found in Mabie Forest on 27th July 2011.
 
Life cycle
Possibly two generations. Overwinters as a pupa that is attached to a leaf or stem. Larva are present during July and August.
 
Larval foodplants
Beech.
 
Identification
Unmistakeable.
 
Habitat
Beech woods that are mature, but also hedgerows with Beech.
 
Recorders' notes
May be worth targeting our Beech woods and hedgerows now the first has arrived.
