With Dumfries and Galloway covering some 6500km2 and a population numbering only c.150,000, it is perhaps not surprising that coverage of the region for moth recording is patchy.  The maps below show the number of macro-moth species recorded in each 10km square (includes records up to 2013). These show totals for all years and totals recorded from 2000 onwards.  Click on the maps for a larger version. Dumfriesshire is the least well recorded of the three vice counties, particularly the eastern half.  Records from squares with few species recorded would be greatly appreciated to improve regional coverage for the forthcoming national macro-moth atlas.
