Just like buses, it appears than when you get one new wainscot moth, another one turns up shortly after. Peter Norman trapped two Fen Wainscot moths at Auchencairn Bay on 26/27 July.  This record also provides confirmation of a previous record of the same species from a nearby locality and is the only known site for the species in Scotland.  It is a reedbed specialist and flies in July and August.

The DGERC Bugs in Gardens project launch at Allanton House also included a new record for Dumfries and Galloway.  The micro-moth Pied Smudge Ypsolopha sequella was recorded in the trap, and is one of only a handful of records of this species in Scotland.  It feeds mainly on Acer species.
